Give Your Child a Fun and Action-Packed Summer They’ll Never Forget!
“Karate kids will get a kick out of this Brooklyn dojo, which runs a seven-week camp full of nonstop action.”
~The New York Daily News – May 15, 2011
Summer is right around the corner! What will your child be doing over summer vacation?
Wouldn’t it be great if they could use this time to stay active, have fun, learn valuable life skills, and get some quality karate training?
Well, with the Urban Martial Arts Karate Summer Camp, they can!
When is the Karate Sports Summer Camp offered?
The 2012 camp will run for 7 weeks, from July 9th to August 24th. The activities take place Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. But you can drop off as early as 8 am and pick as late as 6 pm.
What will my child do at the Karate Summer Camp?
Campers do cardio workouts, they get a 30-minute karate class Monday through Thursday, and throughout the day we also do a lot of exercise disguised as games to keep the kids active. Character development is a very important part of our camp. Every week we focus on a different theme: like friendship, or courage, or responsibility. All week long we’ll have discussions about that topic, do activities related to the topic, and complete written and arts projects related to that topic. Of course, we also do at least 1 or 2 fun field trips per week!
Is this an intensive sports training camp?
No, it’s not an intensive training camp. It’s an activity camp that incorporates elements of karate, fitness, and other sports. So kids stay active, but they’re not literally working out every hour of the day.
What kind of field trips do you do?
In the past we’ve taken our campers ice skating, horseback riding, rock climbing. We’ve taken our campers to the movies so they can watch the latest summer blockbusters. We’ve taken campers to family entertainment centers with fun rides, bumper cars, inflatable slides. One time we even challenged another martial arts school to a water gun battle!
How much do I have to pay for the field trips?
Absolutely nothing! All field trips are included in the tuition, so there’s nothing extra you have to pay.
Do I have to do all 7 weeks of the Karate Sports Summer Camp?
No, you can do either 3 weeks, 5 weeks, or 7 weeks. And they don’t have to be consecutive weeks — you can always mix and match!
Is lunch included in the Karate Sports Summer Camp?
No, all campers must pack their own lunch, snacks, and a water bottle. We will provide water and extra snacks if your child needs them.
What age students are eligible to participate in the Karate Sports Summer Camp?
The Karate Summer Camp is open to students aged 4 to 13.
What’s the minimum number of weeks I can do the Karate Sports Summer Camp?
The minimum is 3 weeks, but they don’t have to be 3 consecutive weeks — you can always mix and match!
What’s the tuition for the Karate Sports Summer Camp?
If you pay in full before the start of the camp on July 9th, you qualify for the discounted tuition:
3 weeks – $799
5 weeks – $1,199
7 weeks – $1,499
If you pay after the camp has started, you pay the full rate which is $299 per week. Payment for the week must be received no later than 9:30 am each Monday.
Are payment plans available?
Absolutely! We can arrange weekly or monthly payment plans for you, billed by debit or credit card EFT.
How do I register for the Karate Sports Summer Camp?
Just come in to Urban Martial Arts to fill out the paperwork and pay the non-refundable deposit of $199 by cash, credit card, or check.
Worth every penny I’ve spent and more!
My daughter used to be shy and very dependent, only blossoming around people she considered of complete trust. She is now so much more confident, being able to expose herself in front of others without fear.
This investment has literally changed the way my daughter faces life, and that is worth every penny I’ve spent and more.
Urban Martial Arts and the way Sensei Serge teaches -which is with sensibility, professionalism, and passion- has really helped us as a family, and helped my daughter discover she is preciously worthy.

It’s one of the best things that has ever happened to my son!
I was really quite surprised when my 10-year-old son told me he wanted to do karate. But I do know this; it’s one of the best things that has ever happened to him.
I found Urban Martial Arts by looking for Karate Schools online. It became immediately clear to me that UMA puts the value of community first. I could see it in the eyes and enthusiasm of everyone in the center.
There are teachers but some are special. Sensei Serge Sognonvi, leads young people with a combination of professionalism and joy that I want my young son to discover.
— Rex C, Brooklyn NY
We liked it so much my husband signed up too!
My son has been going to Urban Martial Arts for about two years. The staff is very patient and encouraging. The focus is not only on the physical aspect of the martial arts but on discipline as well.
We liked it so much that my husband has signed up as a member as well!
— Regina S, Brooklyn NY
A friendly environment for families of all backgrounds!
I enrolled my child at Urban Martial Arts because he is stubborn and hard-headed. After starting martial arts training, he’s starting to listen more and more.
I really enjoy watching Sensei Serge interact with the children, giving them valuable lessons they can use outside the dojo.
I also like the fact that he interacts with the parents in addition to the students, creating a friendly environment suitable for families of various backgrounds and cultures.
— William, Brooklyn NY
They’ll embrace you as family!
There are many martial schools located in the Brooklyn section of NY. But not many will embrace you as family.
Urban Martial Arts is successfully encouraging my 11-year-old son and guiding him to become the young man he is growing up to be. And the school has turned my sometimes soft-spoken and shy 5-year-old daughter into a confident and strong little dragon!
